On rumours about problems at "SWEDBANK" AS

The Financial and Capital Market Commission (hereinafter – the Commission) informs that taking into account ungrounded rumours about the financial situation of „SWEDBANK” AS spread on the Internet media and social networks past weekend, regulators of the financial sector are currently acting in concert with law enforcement authorities to calm down the customers of „SWEDBANK”AS and to find out the source of such worrying information.

The Commission points out that the worrying news about the financial problems at "SWEDBANK" AS is only rumours and there are no grounds for concern about the financial situation of the Bank.

The Commission's Deputy Chairman Jānis Brazovskis says, "It is hard to understand the causes of rumour. The Bank and we have been alerted to the rumours and we are prepared to ensure provision all the services to customers, as well as to step up refilling cash in ATMs, if required. The Security Police and State Police are also alerted, and we have also communicated with Uldis Cērps, Banking and Securities, Department Director at the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) who has confirmed that 'SWEDBANK" in Sweden works in normal mode."
